Social Responsibility
BIHL and its 2 operating subsidiaries , Bifm and Botswana Life , continued to support chosen projects through various corporate social responsibilities (CSR) program.
While the Group provided financial support to deserving charities, particularly those involving needy children, major focus of it's CSR programs were based on the concept of promoting the health of the nation: healthy bodies and healthy minds , which translates into fine arts, music, drama and learning.
For example, Botswana Life co-sponsored the popular Broadway production, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" - the biggest musical ever staged in Botswana, giving local performers the chance to appear on stage with leading talent from around the world.
The company also sponsored the Botswana Teachers Union National Eisteddfod, which provides 2 days of traditional dance and choral music and brings together 5 000 students from across the country.
Botswana Life also sponsors the operation of the insurance school at the Botswana Accountancy College, providing a mechanism to equip those wanting to enter the life assurance industry , to do so effectively.
We have also devoted considerable attention to the Aids/HIV issue through the sponsorship of the Minister of Education's "Ketsone" educational publication which is aimed at children as well as participation in Aids/HIV awareness walks.
The company also sponsored a walk to raise awareness about breast cancer.
