Kgale Classic Is Back Again

Botswana Life is once again sponsoring the annual Kgale Classic race for the 12th consecutive year. Up to 300 runners from around the country are expected to participate.

The race will be held over two days. On August 14, participants will run from the Game City entrance on the Kgale Quarry road, through the quarry, to the top of Kgale Hill, a distance of approximately four kilometres. On August 15, participants will run a two-lap course starting and finishing at the Botswana Life Insurance head office car park at Middle Star, Gaborone. The winners will be those with the lowest combined time for the two races.

The Saturday race starts at 3.30pm. The Sunday race starts at 7.30am. Cash prizes totalling P11,090 will be awarded to the first 10 men, five women, five junior boys, five junior girls, three veteran men, three veteran women, three masters men, three masters women, and the first two men’s and women’s teams. All winners will also receive a T-shirt.

Botswana Life sponsorship for this event amounts to P50,000, including cash prizes, medals, T-shirts for all participants and publicity. Kgalagadi Beverages will support the race with drinks to quench the thirst of all the runners during and after the race.

Entry forms will be available at the National Stadium on Tuesday and Thursday from August 10 between 5pm and 6pm. The entry fee is P20 per runner for all who register before the race.

Botswana Life Insurance considers its sponsorship of this event to be an integral part of building a healthy relationship with the sporting community. Botswana Life and Gaborone Runners Club welcome all sports enthusiasts to the competition.
